Tuesday September 02 - Chicago to Istanbul

FINALLY!!!!

It was a crazy morning running around doing many last minute things and dropping off Rusty and Coco.

Got on the 5:10 PM Wisconsin Coach lines bus to O'Hare and arrived on schedule at 6:45 PM. The bus driver was quite pleasant, which is always a bonus.

Check in was smooth and effortless, the ground staff was very pleasant and helpful. We proceeded through security and towards our gate. On the way to the gate we stopped for dinner at the food court. There have been a lot of changes from the last time I was here in February, it's loaded with shopping and restaurants. It was pretty tiring seeing "coming soon" plastered all over for almost a year.

We decidedto eat at Wow Bao, a Chinese, Thai fusion food and we chose to have Pot stickers & soup. I believe we got outsmarted on the pricing, the pot stickers were 5 for $4.99 or 8 for $8.50 and so we chose two orders of 5. Thinking back on it we are convinced it was a marketing p!oy to make the customers spend $1.50 more. We did get 2 more of the delicious pot stickers so not complaining.

Boarded our flight on time, AB 330-200/300. The interior of the plane was clean and bright and looked very inviting, the cabin crew smiling and polite.

The flight took off on time and after about an hour we were given menu cards. I chose the Eggplant Parmesan on penne pasta, which came with salads, raspberry cheese cake, little packets of olive oil.

Before dinner service we were given cloth hot towels for freshening up , and there was real cutlery as well, quite an welcome change.

Also had a very good Turkish red wine - Ancyra, Anatolian red wine Cabernet Sauvignon - Syrah.

The flight was very smooth and uneventful.
